SECOND CHANCE HORSE PROGRAM

Welcome to Red Barns Horse Rescue and Rehabilitation Program, where we are dedicated to giving a second chance to horses rescued from the brink of despair. Our focus lies in saving equine lives from the uncertainty of the kill pen at horse auctions, where many arrive malnourished and in desperate need of care.

Program Highlights:

Rescue from Kill Pens:
We actively monitor and attend horse auctions, identifying and rescuing horses facing an uncertain fate in kill pens. Many of these horses come to us with a history of neglect, malnourishment, and sometimes in need of urgent medical attention

Holistic Rehabilitation:
Our comprehensive rehabilitation program is designed to address not only the physical health but also the emotional well-being of each rescued horse. We provide a safe and nurturing environment where they can heal and regain trust in humans.

Nutritional Support:
Malnourished horses receive specialized nutrition plans tailored to their individual needs. Our team of experienced caregivers ensures they receive the proper balance of nutrients, helping them regain weight and strength.

Veterinary Care:
Every rescued horse undergoes a thorough veterinary examination. We address any underlying health issues, administer vaccinations, and provide necessary medical treatments to ensure their overall well-being.

Training and Gentle Rehabilitation:
Our skilled trainers employ patient and gentle rehabilitation techniques to reintroduce these horses to positive human interactions. This process helps rebuild their confidence and prepares them for potential adoption.

Adoption Program:
Once rehabilitated, horses are carefully matched with loving adoptive homes. Often children and their families who attend our summer camps or participate in the 4H program at our facility become forever homes for our rescue horses.
Any horse that is adopted from our program is always welcome back, no questions asked, should the adopter need to do so.
